PaperCon Hosts Many Activities for Young Professionals
The next generation of industry stars will have plenty of opportunities to engage with other young professionals at PaperCon in Minneapolis, MN on April 23-26. The TAPPI Young Professionals Division will be hosting many activities to challenge young professional attendees (or YPs) to “Get Involved”.
These activities include a Couch Pit University Fraternity & YP Mentor Reception where you will be able to network and knowledge share with industry experts. In addition, there will be a YP Opening Luncheon where you can dine, learn how to get the most out of PaperCon, and tour the exhibit floor.
If you love prizes, there are a couple of opportunities of fun for you. Stop in to the YP Basecamp (Open Monday 11 am until Wednesday 3 pm) to enter a drawing for prizes. Think of this area as “home base”, bringing together young professional attendees to enhance their ability to network and collaborate in person. Get active and be adventurous by participating in the Lake States TAPPI L.S.T Paper Hunt, which starts on Monday at 11:00 am (in conjunction with YP Basecamp opening) and ends 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Prizes include laptop, iPad, gift cards, etc. should be a fun opportunity to meet others and gain knowledge.
There will also be two informative sessions hosted specifically for YPs M3: What does TAPPI Renew, Rethink, Reinvent mean to a YP? and M11: Work Life Balance: Finance, Social, and Professional on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Want more networking? Stop by the Alumni Soiree & YP Mixer on Monday evening. Also, on Tuesday morning, there will be a Young Professionals Division Annual Meeting and Breakfast from 8:00 – 10:00 am. This event provides a great opportunity to connect with Division volunteers and find out more about how to get involved with the division. Initial plans include enhancing the division’s prominence and resources by creating a Young Professionals Division Manual, providing all YP members with an understanding of both the division and of TAPPI as a whole.
