Hands-On Surface Adhesion Training

Hands-On Surface Adhesion Training

TAPPI, in partnership with ITW Pillar Technologies, is presenting a one-day training workshop for those supervising, operating, or maintaining surface treatment systems. Gain a basic to intermediate understanding of surface energy and how corona and plasma surface modification technologies can offer solutions to surface wettability and adhesion at the Corona & Atmospheric Plasma 101 Course

Held at the ITW Pillar Technologies facility, you will have the opportunity to work with the on-site, fully-equipped pilot line. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Hartland, Wisconsin USA.

After completing this course you will:

  • Understand different surface treatment system designs.
  • Calculate and use watt density to positively influence surface treatment results.
  • Recognize how to measure surface tension and the factors that affect wettability and adhesion.
  • Identify and apply troubleshooting techniques and preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Understand the capabilities, specifications, and chemical functionalization effects provided by atmospheric plasma technologies.
  • Improve surface adhesion and product performance.
  • Encounter hands-on utilization of corona and plasma surface modification technologies on a laboratory line.
  • Know how the pilot line equipment is calibrated.
  • Learn how webs are threaded through the system.
  • Discover how electrical assemblies are calibrated to materials and the ground rule.
  • Ascertain how to optimize operation of the system.
