Food Packaging and Processing Expert to Keynote European PLACE Conference

Plans are underway for the 18th Biennial European PLACE Conference, 10-12 October 2022 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Conference, which will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Bratislava, focuses on the theme: Making Packaging as Functional and Simple as Possible, but not Simpler.

Dr. Horst-Christian Langowski kicks off the Conference on Monday, 10 October, with the keynote address, ‘The Importance of Food-Grade Recyclates for the Circular Plastics Economy.’

Dr. Langowski is widely respected for his research and vast knowledge in the areas of food packaging and processing. As global awareness increases on the future of both consumables and packaging, Dr. Langowski’s insights and experiences will both inform and inspire attendees.

According to Conference Committee member Guenter Schubert, Speira, the Conference’s programming is designed to provide flexible packaging professionals from around the world who serve in key decision-making roles with actionable information to take back to their workplaces. Attendees include scientists, researchers, converter and hardware specialists, and subject matter experts in packaging – from material application to food, sustainability and recycling.

“TAPPI’s European PLACE Conference offers a program that not only examines the latest trends and technologies related to extrusion coating and lamination of web-based materials,” he said, “but also takes into consideration the public’s attitude on packaging so that the content we present encompasses a broad range of interests.”

The program will be announced in the coming days with registration opening soon after. Check events.tappiplace.org for developments.
