Introduction to Pulp and Paper Technology Course Celebrates 50 Years

The Introduction to Pulp and Paper Technology Course (IPP) was first offered by TAPPI in 1974 and Course Chair Michael J. Kocurek, Ph.D. (Dr. Mike) made sure students learned the most current information about the industry for ALL 49 offerings of the course. The next offering, January 8-11, 2024 in St. Petersburg, FL, marks the course’s 50th anniversary and once again Dr. Mike will be at the helm.

Dr. Mike is one of the world’s most recognized educators in the pulp and paper industry. A TAPPI Fellow, he was inducted into the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame in 2005 and continues to be a great instructor exhibiting a level of knowledge that most can only hope to obtain in a lifetime. Well into his retirement, Dr. Mike has promised to continue teaching until his evaluations come back poorly or he shows up to the course without his pants.

Were you one of his students? Join us in celebrating Dr. Kocurek and thanking him for his contributions to the industry by visiting connect.tappi.org and adding your well wishes and recollections from your interactions with Dr. Mike on the “Join in the Celebration” thread.

Do you know someone who would benefit from the course? Share your IPP memories with them and encourage them to register for the historic event.
