We understand it can be challenging to ask for approval to attend TAPPI training events, so we've created an Attendance Support Materials below to assist you with the approval process and in making a strong case for the investment.
We encourage you to review the materials below and let these help you communicate the value of what attending TAPPI Academy training can provide when approaching your manager for approval.
Prepare your Justification.
It's important for you to communicate that attending a TAPPI training event is a strategic investment in your training and development, and a cost-effective way to help you do your job better. You'll meet others who experience the same day-to-day challenges, meet face to face with technical experts and gain an advantage in the industry from the influx of new ideas, innovations and solutions.
Before the Event

Your preparation will help you earn the greatest benefit from TAPPI training!
In many cases, the work you put in beforehand can also help you determine what information that you want or need to learn from the experts who will assemble to lead this instruction. The interaction with your manager or supervisor can be a productive process to go over some of the challenges that your organization would like to tackle.
Continuing Education Units
TAPPI is an accredited provider of The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) organization’s Continuing Education Unit (CEU). IACET uses the ANSI/IACET Standard of in-depth research on the learning process and a nationwide network of experts to help continuing education and training providers like TAPPI to develop a framework for continuous improvement and a superior learning experience. IACET has developed an internationally recognized CEU which all TAPPI Academy course attendees are eligible to receive upon attending and meeting the necessary requirements. CEUs allows course attendees the ability to maintain professional memberships, certifications, licensing, and provide proof to their companies of continuing education.
IACET CEUs are awarded to eligible attendees after the following measures have been taken:
- Completion of the pre-course survey upon registration
- A minimum of 80% course attendance
- Course evaluation have been completed upon conclusion of the course

Training Facility Rental
TAPPI owns and operates a training facility at its Headquarters in Norcross, Georgia. The TAPPI Training Room accommodates up to 30 people in a classroom style setting. Conveniently located on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, this newly remodeled training facility provides easy access to all major highways and a host of hotels and restaurants in the immediate area. The training room rental includes:
- Spacious seating area that can be used for training courses or meetings
- Access to a break room and kitchen
- Digital projector and flip charts
- Two breakout rooms available for reservation at no extra charge with a full day rental
The Training Facility includes presentation equipment:
- Electronic Whiteboard
- Data Projectors
- Laser Pointer
TAPPI also provides audio visual services, catering, and meeting planning for an additional charge.
